Does anyone have any information on Mike's demise.  I didn't know him well and only had a passing," how are you," relation.

All,

In answer to the question by Mike Broussard about Mike Craft, he and I had worked together as petroleum landmen for several years at Ted W. Walters & Assoc. (Mark Walter's older brother).  Craftee was an excellent landman for 40 years, but had battled prostate cancer off and on for many years.  The cancer had come back with a vengeance and had spread.  He lived at Rayburn Country Golf Resort at Lake Sam Rayburn and always called when he came to Tyler to say he "was coming out from behind the pine curtain and headed our way!!"

I was able to have a great visit him not long before he died.  He somehow found the strength to go eat catfish at the local restaurant and just barely was able to give me a golf cart tour of the entire course.  Craft had been seeking to be closer God and to know more about Him for a couple of years as he knew he would soon be facing our Creator.  He was still a character like always, but had given all his illness, troubles and life to Jesus Christ.  He died May 25, 2017 and his funeral was at Van United Mthodist Church.  He was from Van before moving to Tyler.  We miss him at Ted's.

Thanks for asking,

Sturrock

Mike and I were friends and used to race his Cougar against me on loop 323.  I haven't been back to Tyler in 50 years but remember him fondly.
